"Doom, was the daddy." Damn right
Me: Mom can I get Rocket League?
I just love how you say "Doom". You really get across how awesome that game is.
This video is over 5 years old and it's still the best one that I've seen summarizing the history of graphics.
It must've taken a while to edit and I just appreciate this video overall.
"They say graphics aren't important, but every game I've ever played has had them."
my favorite part is when he said in what sounded like a serious voice, but can it run crysis?
watching this after MW2019 makes me realize how far graphics have come in 5 years.
This video is only 8 months away from the second mass insurgence of throwback-types of indie-games, starting with Undertale, which brought the ever-present-yet-unnoticed genre of spritey 2D shoot em ups which favours much more on the obstacles you have to dodge, into the mainstream western market. These so-called 'bullet-hell's were ever-present, staying in the 2D realm to portray the sheer chaos of its concept, which is large barrages of bullets covering at most the entirety of the play area. A regress in graphics, one that remembers us on the elder days of gaming, which supposed to not cater to the modern market anymore, but pair it with the heavily in-demand story-based games, and Undertale brings forth not just the second wave of indie resurgence, but the bullet-hell type of games along with it, and it's far ancestors like the Touhou franchise.
This isn't brief. This is the documentary I watched as a class project.
I'm honestly surprised you skipped over the rise of anti-aliasing. I feel like that might have been a fairly major point in time.
Pong - 1972 = A bunch of really smart people got together to program how a ball is supposed to move
After 5 years, we really need "part 2" of this video.
"They say graphics aren't important, butt every game I've ever played has had them"
"but it can run Crysis?"
If ever this video gets a Part 2, I'm pretty sure VR gaming will be one of the major additions.
